The Keedy Lab

Spring 2026 news roundup

Time for a long-awaited Keedy lab news roundup…

First off, there have been lots of changes to the set of lab members.

On one hand, due to graduations and other life events, Virgil, Shivani, Ali, Shah, and Lexi (phew) all left the lab… Wishing them all the best in their new & exciting ventures in biotech, synchrotrons, the medical field, etc. Virgil’s defense went great, BTW – congrats, Dr. Woods!

On the other hand, Alie and Rivi joined the lab as new PhD students!

Alie already received a Bernard B. Levine Graduate Fellowship in Science and Mathematics for $40k over 1 year from the CCNY Division of Science. Congrats, Alie!

Liliana also received an ASRC travel award to attend the Computational Chemistry GRS+GRC meeting this summer in Barcelona.

And, after three attempts, Daniel’s NSF CAREER award was funded. This grant will support our efforts to decipher fundamental differences between de novo designed vs. natural proteins, which will provide new avenues for improving the design of functional proteins. It will also support several new educational & outreach activities ranging from the classroom to a nearby science comedy venue in NYC. We are very grateful for this federal support of our scientific efforts!

Lots of projects and papers in progress behind the scenes, so expect to hear more on the scientific front in the coming months!…
